‘Razz’ Blueberry
$16.00An amazing flavour! Not available in grocery stores because it’s too delicate for mass shipping. Fat, juicy berries are a pretty periwinkle blue and are simply splendid for fresh eating. It’s one of our favourites for its distinctly raspberry-flavoured notes making it taste more like huckleberry. Razz also takes well to baking and preserves. Also an extremely attractive landscape plant, with a flaming foliage show in the fall. Disease-resistant. Ripens in July-August. Northern highbush. Developed by Frederick Coville at the USDA in 1934. ‘Red Spy’ Apple
$75.00The Red Spy Apple Tree is an old variety, originating in NY in the 1800’s. It is similar to Northern Spy but with a much redder skin and bright stripes. ‘Redgold’ Nectarine
Redgold is the most planted and has proven to be the most suitable nectarine variety for the Okanagan, but matures too late for some locations. The fruit has a bright waxy red colour and clear yellow flesh. Fruit size is large. Quality is excellent and yields are high, equal to good peach varieties. Redgold has average winter hardiness and resistance to spring frost. Freestone. Winter hardy in zone 5.

‘Redhaven’ Peach
$75.00A must-have for any backyard orchard! Redhaven ripens early in the season and is usually freestone, although some years it can be a little “clingy”. It has a wonderful red colour over a yellow background. The flesh is yellow with a little red near the pit. It is juicy, sweet, and very tasty. The tree is one of the more hardy varieties, very productive, and has good resistance to bacterial spot. Excellent for canning and shipping fresh. Ripens in mid-August. Showy pink flowers in early spring. Glossy green foliage. Part of the Haven series introduced by Michigan State University.

‘Redheart’ Japanese Plum

‘Reka’ Blueberry
$13.00High yielding blueberry for the Kootenays. Medium-sized fruits are dark blue and ripen around the same time as Duke. Excellent for fresh eating and processing. Plants are vigours and cold hardy.
Adaptable to a wide range of northern climates and soil types, Reka produces early-ripening, medium-sized berries with an exceptionally rich flavour and pleasing aroma. Surprisingly high yields and beautiful burgundy red fall colour on this 4 -6 ft. bush makes Reka a must-have for every blueberry lover. Dark blue fruits ripen about the same time as Duke, but the berries have better flavour. Developed in New Zealand, Reka is a Northern Highbush variety that grows best in temperate climates where total winter chilling is 1,000 hours or more. Its fruits are excellent for fresh eating and processing. Vigorous and fast growing, Reka Blueberry is also a good choice for local farm markets and u-pick markets. ‘Reliance’ Peach
Cold hardy and widely-adapted. Medium-large peaches are yellow fleshed with a traditional yellow with red blush skin. Excellent for canning, drying, preserves and fresh eating. Released in New Hampshire in 1964.

‘Romeo’ Dwarf Sour Cherry
$30.00Romeo is a hardy deciduous hybrid shrub variety of Sour Cherry released in the Romance Series of Dwarf Sour Cherries from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. It features dark red/black, flavourful fruit most suitable for fresh eating, processing, and juice production. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Romeo is also suitable as an accent or landscape shrub. ‘Royal Gala’ Apple

‘Ruby Mac’ Apple (M9 NIC29 Dwarf)
Very promising ‘McIntosh’ strain, it is early-colouring with a vibrant red finish. Ruby Macs are very firm and are resistant to premature drop. Colour coverage is nearly complete, with just a few spots of light yellow-green peel where the sun didn’t shine.Fruit is quite juicy, tinted green, and crisp though not hard. The flavours are balanced, though with some pleasing tartness.

‘Shenandoah’ Pawpaw
Flavour, flavour and more flavour. Fruit weighs up to one pound each! Firm-textured, banana-coloured flesh is fruity, sweet and oh-so-custardy, with a wonderful aroma and pleasant finish. Very few seeds. Tree is a good yielder. Takes well to proper pruning and well-drained, deeply dug, slightly acid soil. During its first few years shield it from the afternoon sun, then give it full exposure for the largest crops. Ripens in September. Slow growing with natural pest and disease resistance. Try this North American native fruit!

Shinseiki is an early ripening fruit with bright yellow skin. Its delicate white flesh is sweet, flavourful and extremely juicy. Shinseiki trees are very precocious, sometimes bearing fruit on our one-year-old grafted trees. Customers in a hurry to taste Asian pears should plant this variety! ‘Shiro’ Japanese Plum

‘Sovereign Coronation’ Seedless Grape
$14.00 – $18.00Sovereign Coronation is developed at Summerland Research Station, here in BC. This midseason eating grape produces virtually seedless, blue-purple fruit with a sweet musky flavour. Makes great preserves. Commonly sold from the Okanagan as fresh seedless table grapes, but also are the most widely grown table grape in Canada. The fruit has a vibrant blue colour similar to Concord and is earlier than traditional varieties. ‘Spartan’ Apple (M9 NIC29 Dwarf)
The Spartan apple was the first new breed of apple created by the Pacific Agri-food Research Centre in Summerland! Spartan is a deep maroon-coloured apple with an excellent refreshing sweet flavour. Apple textbooks often describe the flavour as “vinous” and it can indeed have a wine-like quality, although this is first and foremost a crisp sweet juicy unpretentious apple. That flavour, and the crimson skin, are an easy clue that Spartan is related to the famous Canadian McIntosh apple. Spartan is undoubtedly one of the best of the many varieties which trace their ancestry back to McIntosh. Usually ripens later in the season, usually around late September to early October. Stores well.

Sweet Thing produces some of the highest quality sour cherries that the University of Saskatchewan has seen. Comes from the linage of ‘Carmen Jewel’ and ‘Erdi Jubileum’, and may even contain heritage from Hungarian sweet cherry. Rick Sawatzky’s favourite for eating quality while using for research. Not as cold hardy as the Romance series, but has great potential for warmer areas such as BC and Ontario. Fruit tend to be large and are excellent for fresh eating, juicing and deserts. ‘Tundra’ Haskap
Tundra’s fruit is firm and does not bleed from the stem end when removed from the plant, making this variety suitable for mechanical harvest. It possesses the desired fruit shape and size to appeal to the Japanese market and rated high in the flavour testing. Bushes tend to grow outward. Cross pollination is required. Compatible with Aurora, Boreal Blizzard and Honeybee.
This University of Saskatchewan introduction produces blueberry-like fruit that ripens as early as Strawberries. Also known as Honeyberries or Blue Honeysuckle, Canadian Haskap are superior to any other Honeyberries with sweeter, wild Blueberry flavour and larger, fleshier fruit not unlike oversize Blueberries. The plant themselves are extremely cold tolerant and these are a great fruit alternative for cold climates.

‘Vanessa’ Seedless Grape
$12.00 – $18.00Developed by the Horticultural Research Institute of Ontario, Vanessa is a red dessert grape of excellent quality. The vine is moderately vigorous and among the hardiest of seedless grapes. The seed remnant is usually large and soft; when noticeable it is sometimes a cause for limited marketability. Berries are medium in size on medium, well-filled clusters. Storage potential is good. The flavour is mild and fruity, and the berry texture is firm. The fruit quality is among the best of the red seedless types.
According to the University of Minnesota, the characteristic that separates the “Vanessa” from other seedless grape varieties is its crisp texture. Bruce Reisch, a professor in the Department of Horticultural Sciences at Cornell University in New York (USA), who specializes in viticulture, said fruit quality makes it one of the best table grapes among the seedless red grape varieties.

Black Jostaberry
$20.00A gooseberry and currant cross! The rich berry taste is reminiscent of gooseberry with a kiss of black currant. Deep-red, almost-black fruit is high in vitamin C and forms in large clusters, ideal for juices, jams and jellies, and fresh-eating. Cold-hardy plants are long-lived, thornless, and productive once established. Debuted in 1977. The name “jostaberry” itself is a combination of the German word for blackcurrant, “Johannisbeere” and for gooseberry, “Stachelbeere”. Disease-resistant to American gooseberry mildew, black currant leaf spot, white pine blister rust, and big bud gall mite. Ripens in July. Self-pollinating but does well with cross-pollination.

High Bush Cranberry

Kinnikinnick Bearberry
$16.00Hardy native mat-forming evergreen groundcover with small shiny foliage and pink, bell-shaped blooms in spring followed by red berries. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Kinnikinnick berries are edible but mealy and tasteless, but were an important traditional food source for some First Nations groups because of their persistence on branches throughout the winter. Due to their texture and lack of taste, the berries were usually processed, cooked, or preserved in some way. Young leaves can be used in tea as well.

Nanking Cherry
Nanking Cherry is a small deciduous shrub known for its attractive white blossoms and edible fruit. Its dark red berries are excellent for pies, jellies, and even fresh eating. It is highly regarded as a shade-tolerant fruit. We often see it planted as a hedge on the north side of a house where few other plants will survive, let alone thrive. Expect fruit mid to late July. The fruit can vary in sweetness and size considerably. We often hear that people prefer it to sour cherries. Perhaps this is because Nanking Cherry is more closely related to plums.
