‘D’Artagnan’ Dwarf Sour Cherry
$30.00A’Artagnan is from the new Musketeer Series from the University of Saskatchewan and is closely related to their previous romance series having the same parents as Valentine, Juliet and Crimson Passion. While it was developed for commercial producers who needed improved plant habit for sideways harvest machines, D’Artagnan is a great choice for home gardeners looking for an easy to manage cherry hedge. It tends to have have increased suckering compared to the Romance series, but branches stay shorter and more flexible, only requiring thinning pruning after 12 years in trial (compared to 7 years for other cultivars). Fruit is burgundy with proper proportions for commercial use. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Self-pollinating but cross pollinates well with the Romance series. Released in 2021 from UofS Fruit Breeding Program.

‘Martin’ Saskatoon
$16.00This variety was selected by Dieter Martin in Saskatchewan for exceptionally large and tasty fruit with improved ripening uniformity compared to its “Thiessen” parentage. The plant is vigorous but maintains a good upright form. One of the more compact saskatoons, Martin grows to be around 10ft tall and can spread out 13ft if not maintained. Fruit is suited for fresh eating and processing.

‘Razz’ Blueberry

It’s one of our favourites for its distinctly raspberry-flavoured notes making it taste more like huckleberry. Razz also takes well to baking and preserves. ‘Reka’ Blueberry
$13.00High yielding blueberry for the Kootenays. Medium-sized fruits are dark blue and ripen around the same time as Duke. Excellent for fresh eating and processing. Plants are vigours and cold hardy.
Adaptable to a wide range of northern climates and soil types, Reka produces early-ripening, medium-sized berries with an exceptionally rich flavour and pleasing aroma. Surprisingly high yields and beautiful burgundy red fall colour on this 4 -6 ft. bush makes Reka a must-have for every blueberry lover. Dark blue fruits ripen about the same time as Duke, but the berries have better flavour. Developed in New Zealand, Reka is a Northern Highbush variety that grows best in temperate climates where total winter chilling is 1,000 hours or more. Sweet Thing produces some of the highest quality sour cherries that the University of Saskatchewan has seen. Comes from the linage of ‘Carmen Jewel’ and ‘Erdi Jubileum’, and may even contain heritage from Hungarian sweet cherry. Rick Sawatzky’s favourite for eating quality while using for research. Kinnikinnick Bearberry
$16.00Hardy native mat-forming evergreen groundcover with small shiny foliage and pink, bell-shaped blooms in spring followed by red berries. Prefers a moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Kinnikinnick berries are edible but mealy and tasteless, but were an important traditional food source for some First Nations groups because of their persistence on branches throughout the winter. Due to their texture and lack of taste, the berries were usually processed, cooked, or preserved in some way. Young leaves can be used in tea as well.

Nanking Cherry
Nanking Cherry is a small deciduous shrub known for its attractive white blossoms and edible fruit. Its dark red berries are excellent for pies, jellies, and even fresh eating. It is highly regarded as a shade-tolerant fruit. We often see it planted as a hedge on the north side of a house where few other plants will survive, let alone thrive. Expect fruit mid to late July. The fruit can vary in sweetness and size considerably. We often hear that people prefer it to sour cherries. Perhaps this is because Nanking Cherry is more closely related to plums. Red Goji Berry
$16.00Red Goji Berries are an abundant and early fruiting shrub Native to China. Mauve flowers blossom from June to September and an abundance of red-orange fruits ripen from August to October. These berries are delicious, nutrient-rich, high in antioxidants, and are often called a super fruit. Many describe their flavour as being like a tart cherry tomato. Goji berries have a very unusual growth habit where it is somewhat like a vine, but also very much a tree.

Tayberry
$60.00This is a combined parentage of Red Raspberry and Blackberry crosses. It is similar to the Red Raspberry in its character. But it carries some of the Blackberry traits. Yield and flavor are very good. Berries are large conical shape, firm and well filled. Core stays in the berry similar to blackberry species, but color is deep red like the Red Raspberry types. The taste is more in likeness to the Red Raspberry, but has hints of boysenberry in its flavor. Tay Berry will out yield standard raspberry. In places it proven to be adapted. Zones 6-10

Thinleaf Huckleberry

Wild Huckleberry, also known as Mountain Huckleberry or Thinleaf Huckleberry, has been cultivated, consumed, and enjoyed for thousands of years.
