‘AC™ Harrow Fair’ Peach

‘Blazing Star®’ Peach

Frim, non-browning yellow fleshed peach with 90% red skin. Freestone with a small pit. Relatively hardy. Medium-large round fruits. Excellent for canning, drying, preserves and fresh eating. Some resistance to bacterial spot.

‘Coconut Ice’ Peach

A white-fleshed peach variety that matures middle to late in the harvest season. The fruit skin of ‘Coconut Ice’ has a lower amount of anthocyanin than other varieties, and in ‘Coconut Ice’ the overcolour is pink-red.

‘Crimson Passion’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Crimson Passion is a hardy deciduous hybrid shrub variety of Sour Cherry released in the Romance Series of Dwarf Sour Cherries from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. CP produces the the sweetest of the series which is deep red (lighter red than Cupid and Romeo) and perfect for fresh eating or processing. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Tends to stay more compact than those of the series. Grows well as a bushy hedge instead of pruning into a single-trunked tree.

‘Cupid’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Cupid is a hardy deciduous hybrid shrub variety of Sour Cherry released in the Romance Series of Dwarf Sour Cherries from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Cupid produces the largest fruit of all the sour cherries which is dark/red and perfect for fresh eating. It tends to be a bit later than other varieties, most likely due to its size. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Grows well as a bushy hedge instead of pruning into a single-trunked tree.

‘Cutie Pie’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Cutie Pie produces bright red cherries and is a grandchild of the Les Kerr breeding program at the University of Saskatchewan. Its heritage comes from crossing Mongolian-European sour cherries.  Self-pollinating, but benefits from cross-pollination. Released in 2021 from UofS Fruit Breeding Program.

‘D’Artagnan’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

A’Artagnan is from the new Musketeer Series from the University of Saskatchewan and is closely related to their previous romance series having the same parents as Valentine, Juliet and Crimson Passion. While it was developed for commercial producers who needed improved plant habit for sideways harvest machines, D’Artagnan is a great choice for home gardeners looking for an easy to manage cherry hedge. It tends to have have increased suckering compared to the Romance series, but branches stay shorter and more flexible, only requiring thinning pruning after 12 years in trial (compared to 7 years for other cultivars). Fruit is burgundy with proper proportions for commercial use. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Self-pollinating but cross pollinates well with the Romance series. Released in 2021 from UofS Fruit Breeding Program.

‘Diamond Harrow’ Peach

Winter-hardy and disease-resistant! An early, medium-sized variety with pretty pink blooms to perk up the spring landscape. Fruit has an attractive, 70% scarlet skin over a yellow background with a firm, deep yellow flesh and excellent flavor. High resistance to bacterial spot and brown rot, and has few split pits. A very nice fresh-eating freestone variety that is also good for canning and preserves. Developed in Ontario, Canada and is quite hardy, which means heavy bud-set — subsequent thinning is required for best results. Ripens in July.

Self-fertile. Does not require cross pollination.

‘Earliblaze’ Nectarine

Medium-sized juicy fruit and glossy green foliage make this an attractive choice. Heavy producing tree when mature. The spring flush of pink flowers are very fragrant adding to its value as a great selection for the home orchard. Winter hardy in zone 5.

‘Early Italian’ Prune Plum

Large oval purple fruit with greenish-yellow flesh that turns red when cooked. Good for canning and drying. Good commercial prune-plum. Ripens in 14 days earlier than Italian Plum.

‘Fantasia’ Nectarine

A popular, large, yellow freestone that’s firm when ripe, but oh, so juicy. The taste is sweet, but tangy, and very rich. Nectarines are large and brightly colored. ‘Flavortop’ Nectarine

‘JH Hale’ Peach

A long standing heirloom. Widely adapted and cold hardy. Large to extra large, with golden skin and light red blush. Firm flavourful flesh has made this a long standing favourite. Freestone. Originated in Connecticut in 1912.

Not self-fertile. Requires another peach cultivar as a pollinizer to set fruit, unlike most other peaches.

‘Juliet’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Enjoy bountiful harvests of delicious fruits from an easy to reach, compact plant. White spring blossoms provide an attractive display, followed by clusters of dark red, sour-sweet fruit which ripen in late summer. During trials, Juliet was always first or close second in sweetness and ranked the best flavour for fresh eating directly from the tree when allowed to ripen. Great for processing and fresh eating. Part of the University of Saskatchewan Romance Series (2004). Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. ‘Nijisseiki’ Asian Pear

Also know as “20th Century”. Tree has outstanding ornamental value itself aside from its fruit. Pure white flesh is crisp for snacking. Ripens late August into September. Fruit has long storage life. Discovered in 1888 in Japan.

Not self-fertile. Requires cross pollination with another Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) cultivar.

‘Reliance’ Peach

Cold hardy and widely-adapted. Medium-large peaches are yellow fleshed with a traditional yellow with red blush skin. Excellent for canning, drying, preserves and fresh eating. Released in New Hampshire in 1964.

‘Romeo’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Romeo is a hardy deciduous hybrid shrub variety of Sour Cherry released in the Romance Series of Dwarf Sour Cherries from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. It features dark red/black, flavourful fruit most suitable for fresh eating, processing, and juice production. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. Romeo is also suitable as an accent or landscape shrub. Grows well as a bushy shrub instead of pruning into a single-trunked tree.

‘Shineiki’ Asian Pear

Shinseiki is an early ripening fruit with bright yellow skin. Its delicate white flesh is sweet, flavourful and extremely juicy. Shinseiki trees are very precocious, sometimes bearing fruit on our one-year-old grafted trees. Customers in a hurry to taste Asian pears should plant this variety! The pears store very well for such an early season fruit……usually 4-5 months.

‘Sweet Thing’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Sweet Thing produces some of the highest quality sour cherries that the University of Saskatchewan has seen. Comes from the linage of ‘Carmen Jewel’ and ‘Erdi Jubileum’, and may even contain heritage from Hungarian sweet cherry. Rick Sawatzky’s favourite for eating quality while using for research. Not as cold hardy as the Romance series, but has great potential for warmer areas such as BC and Ontario. Fruit tend to be large and are excellent for fresh eating, juicing and deserts. Self-pollinating, but benefits from cross-pollination. Released in 2021 from UofS Fruit Breeding Program.

‘Valentine’ Dwarf Sour Cherry

Valentine is the only bright red in the Romance Series of Dwarf Sour Cherries from the University of Saskatchewan. It is a preferred variety for drying as fruit maintain their red colour, but also suitable for fresh eating and processing. Although sour is in their name, they can be surprisingly sweet when harvested at the right stage of ripeness. High yielding as plants a generally larger than others in the series. Grows well as a bushy shrub instead of pruning into a single-trunked tree.

‘Westcot’ Apricot

Hardy. Pink flowers cover the tree each spring. Medium-sized heart-shaped light orange-coloured fruit with a red blush. Firm flesh is golden-yellow and freestone. Excellent for fresh eating or canning. Self-pollinating. Ripens in July-August. Winter hardy in zone 3, but more reliable for fruit production in zones 5+. Developed at the Morden, Manitoba Research Station, released 1982.

‘White Lady’ Peach

Widely-adapted and mid-late bloomer. Blossoms tolerate fluctuating spring weather conditions well. Requires chill hours of 800-950.

Large peaches have high and unusual skin color (75% to 85% light red blush over white background), and pale, white flesh that begs to be admired. The Low acid/high sugar creates a unqiue flavour, firm white flesh will get your mouth watering. Early-season ripener prefect for the Kootenays and freestone makes it easy to enjoy. Excellent for canning, drying, preserves and fresh eating.
