‘Korsor’ Elderberry
$20.00Korsor is a variety of black European elder notable for its large, dark, juicy berries. It grows to about 8 feet tall. Bred in Demark.
European black elderberries are the most sought-after and productive elder species because they have been selected for heavy yields and cold hardiness. The berries are renowned as a nutritive anti-viral and immune system tonic. If you buy elderberries or elderberry tincture in the store, you are most likely looking at a variety of European black elder, Sambucus nigra. Flowers can also be harvested!
This species is partly self-fertile, so doesn’t require cross-pollination, but the yields will be heavier with a second variety planted nearby. Elder shrubs prefer partial shade to full sun, with higher yields in more sun. It’s best to irrigate them in summer. Netting may be required to keep birds from destroying berry crop.
American elderberries (Sambucus canadensis) are native to the Midwest US and are more vigorous than black European elderberries (Sambucus nigra). Both are planted commercially for medicinal berries. Our Kootenay native blue elderberry (S. cerulea) also make wonderful medicine, and they are more drought tolerant than other varieties. Don’t accidentally mistake red elderberries (S. racemosa) for any of the edible and medicinal varieties – they are not safe to consume.

Glossy black berries are big on size and flavour! The 4-6 ft. semi-erect canes bear delicious, monster-sized berries in mid to late July that are ideal for fresh eating, preserves and juices. ‘Martin’ Saskatoon
$16.00This variety was selected by Dieter Martin in Saskatchewan for exceptionally large and tasty fruit with improved ripening uniformity compared to its “Thiessen” parentage. The plant is vigorous but maintains a good upright form. One of the more compact saskatoons, Martin grows to be around 10ft tall and can spread out 13ft if not maintained. Fruit is suited for fresh eating and processing.

‘Reka’ Blueberry

Adaptable to a wide range of northern climates and soil types, Reka produces early-ripening, medium-sized berries with an exceptionally rich flavour and pleasing aroma. Surprisingly high yields and beautiful burgundy red fall colour on this 4 -6 ft. bush makes Reka a must-have for every blueberry lover. Dark blue fruits ripen about the same time as Duke, but the berries have better flavour. Developed in New Zealand, Reka is a Northern Highbush variety that grows best in temperate climates where total winter chilling is 1,000 hours or more. Its fruits are excellent for fresh eating and processing. Vigorous and fast growing, Reka Blueberry is also a good choice for local farm markets and u-pick markets. ‘Smoky’ Saskatoon
