‘Eclipse’ Asparagus

$3.00$25.00

Eclipse is a green asparagus hybrid, released from the world-leading asparagus breeding program at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. This male dominant cultivar is an improvement on Millennium with increased spear diameter and improved precocity (reaching maturity earlier) means better yields and faster returns. Has great potential to be used for white spear production as well. While it was developed for the commercial industry, the improvements in yield and foliar disease tolerance makes it a great choice for small scale and home producers.

‘Hall’s Hardy’ Almond

Grows anywhere peaches thrive! Pretty and productive. Large, hard-shell nuts give way to smaller bittersweet kernels. This attractive tree yields large crops of crunchy almonds in fall, and its lovely pink flowers make it a landscape standout in spring. Grows wherever peaches thrive. Matures to be 15–20′ tall, 10–15′ wide. Ripens in late September. Self-pollinating but should be crossed with a peach or nectarine.

CAUTION! The seed is classified as a bitter almond. The bitter taste comes from glycoside amygdalin, which is the precursor to hydrogen cyanide (prussic acid). Although the seeds contain relatively low amounts of glycoside amygdalin, it is recommended to boil or roast seeds to reduce potential risks since glycoside amygdalin is destroyed by high temperatures.
