‘Redgold’ Nectarine

The fruit has a bright waxy red colour and clear yellow flesh. Fruit size is large. Quality is excellent and yields are high, equal to good peach varieties. Redgold has average winter hardiness and resistance to spring frost. Freestone. Winter hardy in zone 5.

‘Spartan’ Apple (M9 NIC29 Dwarf)

The Spartan apple was the first new breed of apple created by the Pacific Agri-food Research Centre in Summerland! Spartan is a deep maroon-coloured apple with an excellent refreshing sweet flavour. Apple textbooks often describe the flavour as “vinous” and it can indeed have a wine-like quality, although this is first and foremost a crisp sweet juicy unpretentious apple. That flavour, and the crimson skin, are an easy clue that Spartan is related to the famous Canadian McIntosh apple. Spartan is undoubtedly one of the best of the many varieties which trace their ancestry back to McIntosh. Usually ripens later in the season, usually around late September to early October. Stores well.
