‘Ambrosia’ Apple

$75.00

A naturally occurring sport from British Columbia introduced in 1980. Clear red blush covers 70-90% of the fruit. Clean smooth skin with no russeting. Crisp, juicy flesh with pleasing sub-acid flavour. Creamy texture, excellent for fresh salads. Ripens in late September. A popular variety, now common in most grocery stores across North America.

‘Diamond Harrow’ Peach

$75.00

Winter-hardy and disease-resistant! An early, medium-sized variety with pretty pink blooms to perk up the spring landscape. Fruit has an attractive, 70% scarlet skin over a yellow background with a firm, deep yellow flesh and excellent flavor. High resistance to bacterial spot and brown rot, and has few split pits. A very nice fresh-eating freestone variety that is also good for canning and preserves. Developed in Ontario, Canada and is quite hardy, which means heavy bud-set — subsequent thinning is required for best results. Ripens in July.

Self-fertile. Does not require cross pollination.

‘Early Italian’ Prune Plum

Large oval purple fruit with greenish-yellow flesh that turns red when cooked. Good for canning and drying. Good commercial prune-plum. Ripens in 14 days earlier than Italian Plum.

 

Semi-self-fertile. Benefits from cross pollination with another European plum (Prunus domestica) cultivar.

‘Emperor Francis’ Cherry

Make your own maraschino cherries! This is one of the best sweet cherries you’ll find anywhere. Tree is consistently productive. Fruit is perfect for canning jellies and jams or making homemade maraschinos. Best when picked fresh and popped into your mouth like candy. Resists cracking. Introduced to the U.S. circa early 1900s. Ripens in late June. Does not pollinate with Bing.

Not self-fertile. Please check the Sweet Cherry Pollination Chart for a suitable pollinizer.

‘Kalle’ Pear (OHxF87 Semi-dwarf)

A medium to large fruit that is round in shape with a slender neck. It ripens 10 days ahead of Bartlett. The fruit is flavorful and has a bright red skin. Also known as ‘Red Clapp’s’ as it is a mutation from ‘Clapp’s Favorite’.

Not self-fertile. Requires cross pollination with another European pear (Pyrus communis) cultivar.

‘Nijisseiki’ Asian Pear

Also know as “20th Century”. Tree has outstanding ornamental value itself aside from its fruit. Pure white flesh is crisp for snacking. Ripens late August into September. Fruit has long storage life. Discovered in 1888 in Japan.

Not self-fertile. Requires cross pollination with another Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia) cultivar.

‘Red Spy’ Apple

The Red Spy Apple Tree is an old variety, originating in NY in the 1800’s. It is similar to Northern Spy but with a much redder skin and bright stripes. The fruit is very tender and juicy and great for cooking as well as storing. Creamy-colored flesh with a sweet-tart flavour that is crisp, aromatic, and juicy. Grafted onto semi-dwarf rootstock.

‘Shineiki’ Asian Pear

Shinseiki is an early ripening fruit with bright yellow skin. Its delicate white flesh is sweet, flavourful and extremely juicy. Shinseiki trees are very precocious, sometimes bearing fruit on our one-year-old grafted trees. Customers in a hurry to taste Asian pears should plant this variety! The pears store very well for such an early season fruit……usually 4-5 months.

Self-fertile. Does not require cross pollination.

‘Westcot’ Apricot

$75.00

Hardy. Pink flowers cover the tree each spring. Medium-sized heart-shaped light orange-coloured fruit with a red blush. Firm flesh is golden-yellow and freestone. Excellent for fresh eating or canning. Self-pollinating. Ripens in July-August. Winter hardy in zone 3, but more reliable for fruit production in zones 5+. Developed at the Morden, Manitoba Research Station, released 1982.
