‘Hall’s Hardy’ Almond
Grows anywhere peaches thrive! Pretty and productive. Large, hard-shell nuts give way to smaller bittersweet kernels. This attractive tree yields large crops of crunchy almonds in fall, and its lovely pink flowers make it a landscape standout in spring. Grows wherever peaches thrive. Matures to be 15–20′ tall, 10–15′ wide. Ripens in late September. Self-pollinating but should be crossed with a peach or nectarine.
CAUTION! The seed is classified as a bitter almond. The bitter taste comes from glycoside amygdalin, which is the precursor to hydrogen cyanide (prussic acid).
