Large, sweet fruit with a delightful tropical taste. Deep purple blooms develop in spring. Golden foliage in the fall. Fruit has a tender, creamy, yellow-orange flesh that can be enjoyed fresh, in smoothies, and desserts. Fruit has few seeds. Attractive, shade-tolerant tree resists pests. Cold-hardy. Ripens in late September. Slow growing with natural pest and disease resistance.

One of the largest Pawpaw varieties, Potomac Pawpaw features delicious, sweet and richly flavoured fruit that often weighs 3/4 lb. or more. Potomac has an attractive, upright growth habit.

‘Shenandoah’ Pawpaw

Flavour, flavour and more flavour. Fruit weighs up to one pound each! Firm-textured, banana-coloured flesh is fruity, sweet and oh-so-custardy, with a wonderful aroma and pleasant finish. Very few seeds. Tree is a good yielder. Takes well to proper pruning and well-drained, deeply dug, slightly acid soil. During its first few years shield it from the afternoon sun, then give it full exposure for the largest crops. Ripens in September. Slow growing with natural pest and disease resistance.
